Welcome to Year 1
Well done to Y1 for such a fantastic Christmas play this year- you were superstars!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The children in year 1 have been learning about ‘super similes’ to describe night time creatures. They have worked very hard to compare objects and use them to write fantastic super similes:
“As warm as a blanket.” “As white as a cloud.” “Its eyes are as black as the night sky.”
Last week we had a fantastic time during International Day! We explored Australia, made digeridoos, aboriginal paintings and giant animal collages! We found out about the climate and animal species that live there!
We had a great time!
In maths we have been learning about number sentences. We found out about equals and how one side needs to balance the other!
This week we have been exploring colour. We have been mixing blues to create fabulous underwater scenes! Our finished Polar pictures look amazing and we are looking forward to displaying them!
Year One had a fantastic day learning about Polar animals. We watched pups being fed, penguins jumping and heard sea lions roaring! It was great to discover so much about these amazing creatures and we will never forget the day.
Week beginning 5th Sept
The children have been learning about the coldest, windiest part of the planet, and making penguins out of coloured card to produce a display about our topic; Antarctic Explorers!
