School Dinners

Please note: Online payments can now be made for school dinners.

At Treloweth we believe in the School Food Trust motto 'Eat better - do better'!  We are continually improving our school dinners.  Our meals are in line with the current government standards and if possible our dishes are prepared using fresh locally, sourced produce.

A menu will be sent home so that you may plan your child's lunch in advance.

Each day we provide one meal choice with a vegetarian option.  Every day your child will have access to fresh drinking water and at least two types of vegetables and fruit along with a salad bar and fresh bread.  Oily fish, containing omega-3 fatty acids, will be provided at least once every three weeks.  Crisps and confectionery (such as chocolate covered biscuits) will not be provided.  All meat products will meet the minimum meat content.

School meals cost £2.30 a day and this is payable to the class teacher at the beginning of the week.  Wherever possible please send the correct money.  All monies should be in a named envelope. You can also now pay online for school dinners using the school gateway - register now for a free account.

From September 2015 those children who wish to eat a school meal each day and have to pay, an ‘Eat 5 buy 4’ scheme has been set up on our online payment system which means your child can eat five meals in a week but you only have to pay for four. This is £9.20 per week per child.  Anyone wishing to take advantage of this offer will need to ensure that payment is made at the beginning of the week.  Unfortunately, we are unable to roll the free meal over but any paid monies will automatically be rolled over to the following week.

A pay as you go option for school dinners is also still available.

We encourage healthy packed lunches too and hope that you will support us in this.  Try replacing chocolate and crisps with healthy alternatives such as fruit, cheese and bread-sticks or crackers so that your child is not filling up on empty calories and is getting all  the nutrients needed from a balanced diet.

Free Super Hero School meals for every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2!

Since September 2014, children in reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to FREE school meals through the Government's 'Universal Infant Free School Meals' initiative.

Now through this scheme Chartwells have introduced a free away day packed lunch consisting of a filled hoagie roll, a piece of fruit, vegetable sticks, homemade cake or biscuit and a juice cuplet for when KS1 pupils have a trip and a packed lunch is required.
